Buttery, almond-flavored spritz are probably the best known pressed cookies. You can make spritz in many different shapes, and dress them up with candied fruit, jam or other decorations.
|1 cups ||butter, softened|
|1/2 cups ||sugar|
|2 1/4 cups ||unbleached white flour|
|1/2 tsp. ||salt|
|1 tsp. ||almond extract, (or vanilla extract)|
- Heat oven to 400 °F (195 °C).
- Cream butter and sugar. Blend in remaining ingredients. Do not use self-rising flour in this recipe.
- Fill cookie press with 1/4 of dough at a time; form desired shapes on ungreased cookie sheet.
- Bake until set but not brown, about 6 to 9 minutes.
