Nasi Goreng Sajur Saja (Fried Rice and Vegetables)

Combine this dish with stir fried vegetables and a sliced fried egg on top of the nasi. Serve with Atjar Tjampoer, kroepoek, and a sliced pickle or cucumber salad 4 T ketjap manis 1/2 T turmeric 1 leek green beans white cabbage garlic carrot 1/2 tomato 200 g bean sprouts bunch sellerie 1/2 t coriander pwd 1 T peanut butter 1 c bouilon 400 g rice, cooked few hours before 4 eggs sniff pepper sniff salt sniff ginger pwd sniff jaotjo (Chineese) serve with atjar ketimoen

Ingredients

2 bags quick-cooking brown rice
1 big yellow onion
2 cloves garlic
1 tbsp. ginger powder
leek
1 pkg. nasi seasoning (djintin + sambal oelek + coriander + celery + chives)
2 cups bean sprouts
 ketjap asin, to taste
egg
1 tbsp. sambal ulek (or hot pepper sauce)
 atjar tjampour, to taste
 kroepoek (prawn crackers), to taste
 cucumber salad

Instructions

  1. Cook the rice, and stir fry the vegetables meanwhile.
  2. Heat oil in wok. Stir-fry onion, garlic and ginger for 2 to 3 minutes until onion is translucent. Add leek, sambal and spices, stir-fry 2 to 3 more minutes.
  3. Add the rice, and fry for 5 to 8 minutes, stirring really well. Add a little more oil if necessary. Add the bean sprouts, heat these for up to 1 minute or they will get soft. Add ketjap to taste.
